A Love Story that Began with a Hike
Vavine and Michael’s story began in the most unexpected yet serendipitous way. They met on Facebook and, after weeks of conversation, Michael convinced the then-reluctant Vavine to join him for a date—a hike that would become the first chapter in their love story. Despite a comedic mix-up on April Fools’ Day (Michael waited at the wrong location!), their connection was undeniable.
Packed with a homemade lunch, courtesy of Vavine’s skills as a chef, they spent the day hiking to a secluded waterfall, talking, laughing, and soaking in each other’s company. By the end of the day, they knew this was the start of something extraordinary.
Fast forward to a heartfelt proposal in Sydney, where Michael, with the perfect Princess Diana-inspired ring, made their shared dream of marriage a reality.

“We love the area and regularly go down there to fish and camp. Stonebarn was the first venue we looked at, and within 10 minutes, we were completely in love. It’s so much our style,” the couple shared.

Bridal Prep at Stonebarn
Vavine got ready surrounded by her closest friends, styled to perfection by Courtney Leigh Hollins (Makeup) and Elle Ryan (Hair Stylist). Her gown, a stunning creation from Collezione Bridal Couture, was paired with statement high-top platform Converse—adding a fun, personal twist to her look.
She also wore a handcrafted hairpiece made with family jewelry, a heartfelt touch gifted by her mother-in-law.
An Emotional Ceremony
The couple exchanged vows in a heartfelt ceremony under Stonebarn’s towering karri trees, with their loved ones gathered around. Vavine and Michael emphasized a relaxed atmosphere filled with love and happiness, a sentiment their guests carried with them throughout the day.
The moment Vavine walked down the aisle was truly unforgettable. Her joy and radiance were echoed in Michael’s eyes—a visual reminder of the love they share.
Epic Reception at Stonebarn
The celebration continued on Stonebarn’s gorgeous verandah and in its dining room where guests indulged in mouthwatering flavors from Uncle Sam’s Smoke Shack.
Vavine & Michael’s first dance, set to the romantic strains of “Stand By Me” by Florence + The Machine, was a magical moment where all the guests walked beneath the stars to another spot specifically set up for dancing.

One of the highlights of filming Vavine & Michael’s wedding was capturing their authentic connection and shared love for the outdoors. They wanted a story-driven wedding video to relive the day’s magic—a timeless memento filled with vows, candid moments, and something a little different.
Instead of formal speeches at the reception, they chose to create pre-recorded “silent speeches,” which we seamlessly wove into their video. They particularly loved my use of voiceovers and the storytelling style of my edits. It was such a privilege to document not only their wedding day but the unique love story that brought them together.
